Governor Brown Issues Additional Eviction Moratorium Extension

Governor Brown Issues Additional Eviction Moratorium Extension

Following on the heels of the CDC eviction hold and to address the ongoing impacts from Covid-19 and the devastation from Oregon’s recent wildfires, Governor Brown has again extended the moratorium on no-cause evictions and evictions due to nonpayment of rent.

Previously the legislature passed House Bill 4213 which prevented evictions through September 30, 2020 and had a 6 month grace repayment period afterwards. The new extension, Executive Order 20-56, went into effect on September 30th and lasts until December 31st, 2020. It is intended on keeping Oregonians in their homes until the legislature can reconvene on the issue later in the year.

Just like the CDC’s eviction hold, failure to comply with this order has legal implications. Any action taken should be taken cautiously and with the order in mind. At Trio we are here to stay up to date with the current legislation and manage our clients' assets with the least liability possible.
